House of Hope Food Pantry and Feed the Sheep Program Direct Distribution
Our Mission
At Food the House of Hope Food Pantry, our mission is to serve our community with love, compassion, and dignity, inspired by the teachings and example of Jesus Christ. Guided by faith, we strive to provide nourishing food and uplifting support to individuals and families facing hardship, regardless of their circumstances. We believe that every person is a valued child of God, deserving hope and respect.
Through our God-centered approach, we seek not only to meet physical needs but also to foster spiritual encouragement and a sense of belonging. By partnering with local churches, volunteers, and supporters, we aim to be a beacon of hope—sharing God’s abundance and grace with all who come to our doors.
Our prayer is that the Food the House of Hope Food Pantry will be a place where faith is put into action, hearts are touched, and lives are transformed through the power of God’s love.

About us
In response to growing food insecurity and demographic shifts, this report provides a comprehensive overview of our community-based food distribution program, evaluates current resources and challenges, and articulates a strong case for pursuing additional funding. The document presents data-driven insights, operational challenges, and a strategic roadmap to expand the program’s reach and impact. Research by the USDA shows that 6.7% of all U.S. households use a food pantry. More than 46 million Americans, including 12 million children and 7 million seniors, rely on food pantries and meal programs which averages 1 in 7 people in the U.S. In our area of North Charleston SC, the need has proven to be very significant as demand for our services has dramatically increased. Amid rising local food insecurity, the House of Hope food distribution programs, including the Food Pantry and Feed the Sheep ministries, serve as a critical safety net for underprivileged families and individuals.
The demand for food assistance has surged in recent years in North Charleston, fueled by economic downturns, unemployment, inflation, and families located in a food desert area. House of Hope, established in 2017, has grown from serving 45 individuals per month to now assisting nearly 3,500 individuals monthly. The food distribution e ort encompasses direct weekly food pantry services, once a month drive-up food distribution, and mobile food delivery for seniors. We are fortunate to have received funds to support the growth through part of this year, but we now must prepare for an end-of-year expected shortfall as well as 2026.
